Current Events:
All Girls Math Tournament! (2023-2024)
A way for girls in grades 3-5 to win scholarships through a math competition! We'll be giving away over $1,200 to the top 3 winners in each category (3rd graders and then 4th/5th graders) to be used as an academic scholarship. The tournament will also feature three keynote speakers, all of which are accomplished women in STEM.
4th and 5th grade girls will meet at the Morgan Hill Santa Clara County Library on Saturday, January 13th and compete both individually and in teams starting at about 1PM. 3rd grade girls will meet up the next day (Sunday, January 14th) at 1PM and follow the same routine.

Career Panelist Event (2023)
The Career Panelist Event is a Sobrato-exclusive event focusing on the experiences of women who work in STEM, specifically engineering, and the journey they undertook in order to get there. Key Speaker Kiana Yamat discusses her college experience at the University of Hawaii, pursuing a job in civil engineering, and some of the obstacles she faced and how she overcame them. Anyone interested in continuing their education in a STEM major is welcome, and women in STEM especially are encouraged to join us!

All About Money Webinar
For our newest series, GirlSTEMpowerment Santa Clara is very proud to present their partnership with CommonWealth Central Credit Union for a financial education webinar series! This series is for teens between the ages of 13 and 17 that cover important financial topics for a better financial well-being. There are three different dates that each cover different topics, swipe to see what will be discussed at each webinar. Attendees of each webinar will also be entered for a chance to win $100!

The Effects of Vaping Workshop (2020)
The Effects of Vaping workshop is a free and interactive workshop, with sponsorships from Breathe California and the Santa Clara County Public Health Department. It is geared towards students between the 5th grade and 10th grade. Participants will be able to gain a better understanding of the adverse effects and dangers of vaping and e-cigarettes. We will also have fun games and prizes!

Periodic Poetry Contest (2020)
The Periodic Poetry Competition is a fun and educational learning opportunity for children in grades 3-12. Through this, we strive to introduce students to the periodic table of elements and help them achieve a better understanding of the element that they choose, and overall, just a general idea of the different components that elements are composed of.

Math Heroes: Tutoring Series (2020)
The "Math Heroes: Tutoring Series" is a 2-month tutoring series from September 14, 2020 - November 16, 2020 (sessions are weekly). This free tutoring program is open to all students between the 3rd grade - 8th grade (we will be prioritizing 3-5 grade students). Topics covered in each session will depend on the individual student as the program is need-based (student will bring whatever topic they need help on). We can't wait to start working with all of you!
